ULTRA-COM II AIRCRAFT INTERCOM

Comtronics very popular two-place portable intercom was designed for pilot/copilot communication in high noise environments. Separate volume controls are adjustable by either pilot or passenger to meet individual hearing needs. This intercom can be used as an intercom only or a complete package with the addition of a single transceiver using a matching Comtronics radio interface cable with push-to-talk switch. The ULTRA-COM II integrates directly with all Comtronics headsets and helmets providing air-to-air and air-to-ground communication. This intercom includes a 3-foot adapter cord connecting to various external inputs such as a radio interface cable with push-to-talk switch for a single transceiver.

Creative circuitry has been designed with an automatic internal noise-canceling feature eliminating the bothersome "tweaking" when adjusting the background noise. This system also includes a unique side-tone circuit that allows the user to hear his or her own voice assuring proper operation.

Aircraft-grade metal enclosure virtually eliminates all stray radio interference. This circuitry is live all the time just like talking on the telephone.

The 9-volt battery is convenient because its gradual power reduction provides adequate warning of impending power failure. The ULTRA-COM II can also be used with a 12-volt power cord eliminating battery replacement. This cord come with a secure lock-ring and can be ordered either stripped and tinned or terminated with a cigarette lighter plug.

Features include a radio port for transceiver and cell phone, power port and music port which would also include capability for an iPod, iPhone, MP3 Player and camcorder.

There are two slide switches mounted on the circuit board next to the battery enabling a pilot to mix and match microphones. One switch can be placed in the "E" position for Electret Microphones and the other switch placed in the "D" position for Dynamic Microphones.

A face plate is available for panel-mounting the ULTRA-COM II Intercom.

An ULTRA-PAQ II Intercom Holder can also be added. This is a sturdy enclosure for shock-mounting the intercom to the airframe. Construction is a heavy-duty vinyl with hook-and-loop webbing. This is a nice adjunct keeping the intercom safer from vibration.

DUAL-COM II AIRCRAFT INTERCOM

The DUAL-COM II Intercom is a portable two-place unit designed for two-place aircraft and developed for high noise environments. This intercom has two separate volume controls which can be adjusted by either the pilot or passenger to meet individual hearing levels and integrates directly with all Comtronics headsets and helmets providing ar-to-air and air-to-ground communication.

It also has a toggle switch for Radio 1 and Radio 2. This switch allows pilots the option to transmit from either of two separate transceivers while monitoring both simultaneously. Since there are two isolated radio ports for use with two different hand-held radios, pilots can contact the ground crew on one transceiver while notifying a nearby airport on the other. All of this can be accomplished by using the switching circuitry provided.

Radio selection is controlled by one toggle switch located on front surface of box. Radio actuation is controlled by a single push-to-talk switch which may be mounted on the aircraft control stick.

Another excellent feature from Comtronics is an In-Line Passenger Push-To-Talk Switch. This switch shuts off the passenger's microphone so that 50% of the noise is gone! Just press the push-to-talk button to speak. The cable is portable and can be moved from plane to plane.

PANEL-MOUNT IV AIRCRAFT INTERCOM

The PANEL-MOUNT IV Intercom is similar to the DUAL-COM II Intercom except it is designed to be permanently mounted in the instrument panel with the passenger plugging into the Remote Station Box. This intercom has a music kill switch and uses the DUAL-COM II radio interface cables.

Incorporated in this intercom is a toggle switch which allows the pilot to select between two transceivers for transmit while monitoring both simultaneously. Radio actuation is controlled by a 6-foot cable with a velcro strap and push-to-talk switch which can be placed in any convenient location within the cockpit. Custom straight cord switch assemblies for mounting can be supplied at no extra charge.

A pilot can contact the ground from one transceiver and notify nearby airports of his location on another. A separate remote station with volume control is supplied and may be mounted for student/copilot operation.

Located on the backside of the main enclosure are separate jacks for music input, push-to-talk cable, copilot Remote Station, Radio 1 and Radio 2. Music cords are also available for an additional charge. Also on the back is a power jack and a power cord is supplied with this intercom as standard equipment.

The entire circuitry is shielded and grounded to effectively eliminate FM and EMI interference. Heavy gauge aluminum with overlapping construction is used for the intercom and remote housing.

Comtronics has developed a Capacitor Kit and In-Line Capacitor Cable for use with the ICOM-A6 and ICOM-A24 Radios. These items help to eliminate radio transmission squeal problems experienced with some configurations.

• The Capacitor Kit is used with systems not using aircraft power. The In-Line Capacitor Cable is offered for systems using CR-20 power cable.
